Published Work
A long time ago, I worked as a freelance video games journalist...
Starting around 2003, I wrote reviews for a regional entertainment magazine in Australia before eventually writing as a freelancer for gaming magazines in 2012. My freelancing continued until around 2017, and by then, I had published over a hundred articles in various magazines and websites, including Game Informer, PC PowerPlay, and Hyper.
Below is a small sample of my published work...
Yearly E3 Coverage
2013 - 2017
Hyper + PC PowerPlay
From 2013 to 2017, I attended E3 in Los Angeles as part of the gaming media and wrote a lot of preview articles - the majority of which were published in Hyper and PC PowerPlay.
I always went out of my way to get quotes from the developers as I wanted to give the readers more than just my opinion of the games I was playing. Covering E3 was the highlight of my year and is still among my favorite projects I have ever worked on.
I should note that I also attended E3 in 2018 and 2019 (the last E3!), but by then, I was working full-time in the industry and no longer freelancing.
Published Cover Stories
2014 - 2017
Hyper + PC PowerPlay
Over the years, I wrote several cover stories for PC PowerPlay and Hyper, most of which included interviews with key people from the development teams including Jean Guesdon (Assassin's Creed: Origins), Steve Cotton (Destiny 2) and Bob Roberts (Shadow of Mordor).
Assassin's Creed: Origins (September 2017 - PC PowerPlay)
Agents of Mayhem (July 2017 - PC PowerPlay)
Destiny 2 (June 2017 - PC PowerPlay)
Titanfall 2 (July 2016 - PC PowerPlay)
Assassin's Creed: Syndicate (August 2015 - PC PowerPlay)
Shadow of Mordor (August 2014 - Hyper)

Full list of published works...
Below is a (essentially) comprehensive guide of my freelance writing work (mostly for Hyper and PC PowerPlay), along with some writing I did while a full-time employee at SeaNanners.
I did a lot more writing than this over the years, including an ongoing game review column in an Australian entertainment magazine (Entertainer / Sunshine Coast Daily) and blog entries for a mobile gaming streaming called Mobcrush.
In addition, I wrote for a real estate magazine and reviewed films and music—like I said, a lot.
These are the works I'm choosing to include in my personal canon...
